Homework policy
Homework is an essential learning tool for all students. As a connection between school and home, it allows for the reinforcement o skills taught inside of the classroom. For this reason, homework will be given four times a week. Your child will have homework Monday-Thursday. All students will be responsible for their homework. Along with daily homework, your child will be expected to read or be read to at least 20 minutes a night.
Your child will receive a weekly study sheet (usually the “homework”) and a behavior sheet in their Homework Folder, which must be signed on a daily basis. The study sheet will help the children prepare for the tests on Friday. In order for the information that was tested to be considered “mastered”, your child’s score must be at least 80%. All tests will be sent home on Monday. Folders will not be sent home on Fridays. ALL SCORED PAPERS MUST BE SIGNED AND RETURNED BY PARENT.
If your child fails to turn in their homework, I will be contacting you to discuss this matter. If there is a reason as to why your child was not able to turn their homework in, please send me a note or email on the day the homework was due, and their homework will be excused a maximum of three times per semester.
